Finger Vein Technology
Axis also provides solutions based on finger vein technology where
authentication is done by finger vein pattern measured from light penetrating a
finger. The technology was established in 2000, and since then modifications
have seen the production of a user-friendly "Open-Type" and a flexible
"Indoor/Outdoor-Type," which can use natural sunlight as a light source.
Recent development of a grip-type finger vein authentication technology, which
upon gripping a door handle, instantly recognizes the finger vein pattern and
confirms the identity of the person trying to enter. This system provides an
unprecedented new level of convenience, as authentication is achieved as part of
the natural action of opening a door, providing high-level security without
requiring any additional maneuvers, or the need to carry keys.
